Driven by the memory of Terrance’s struggle, she championed groundbreaking legislation in Illinois, ensuring that airline workers could care for their ailing loved ones without fearing for their livelihood. This legislative triumph, signed into law by Governor Pritzker in December 2021, marks not just a policy victory but a personal quest for justice and compassion.
Emboldened by her legislative success and her vast experience in union leadership, Corliss is now embarking on new initiatives that expand her influence and dedication to social justice. These include the launch of Corliss King Consulting, aimed at providing legislative advocacy, strategic consulting, and educational workshops to empower individuals and organizations to effect change. Additionally, she’s founding the Union for Black Aviation Unionists (UBAU), focusing on increasing diversity and inclusion within the aviation industry, and ensuring that black voices are heard and valued.
